Milk SupplyFrom: AnnMarie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 29 Sep 2000 14:29:02 -0500 (CDT)
I have noticed a decreasing milk supply. I know that it is supply/demand, but something else must be affecting it. I had plenty the first month and would get 3-4 ounces out of one side. Now I get one ounce, or maybe two ounces if I am really lucky. (Nurse one side, pump the other.) My baby is three months old and nurses the same frequency as before, or more often, and for much longer periods. (At birth he would nurse 20-30 minutes.) He just doesn't seem to be getting enough--he is always hungry and rarely satisfied. After three hours from being taken off, I should be able to pump more than one ounce of milk! (I try to massage, too.) I was put on Micronor at my 6 week exam and it was about then that all this started. I've heard contradictions that Micronor can/can-not affect milk supply. I am trying to drink alot of fluids. Could foods/diet affect supply? I haven't had a period yet. Is there anything else I can try? AM
