what to expect

Hi, I have an appointment for a physical next week and I'm wondering whether to expect a pelvic exam. This is my first appt with this doctor (FP) and my last physical was 3 years ago with a pediatrician. I know the receptionist allowed time for a pelvic when I made the appt but I am not sure whether or not the doctor will decide it's necessary, and I just want to be prepared. I had my first pelvic in early February (a miserable experience, unfriendly nurse who told me almost nothing) and I know that normally one a year is sufficient. However, I have been having itching and some pain for a long time in the vulvar area but didn't mention it to that nurse. Also, my last 2 periods lasted 2 days longer than normal (I have alwasy been very regular) and I had MUCH stronger menstrual cramps than ever before. Also, I will be studying abroad next semester if that makes any difference in her decision. When I tell her all those things, do you think she will think it's a good idea to do a pelvic? I REALLY hate to have it done again, but would kind of like to at least have it done by this doctor who I have heard good things about if it has to be done at all. I don't want to end up at my college health center again if these symptoms get worse later in this semester. So sorry for the long post, basically I just want some opinions so I can prepare myself and hopefully not stress as much about it. Thanks!
