unexplained bleeding for 10 days

i had sex with my bf for the 2nd time ever with him on day 10 of my cycle. had some pain from him hitting my cervix. that night i had a little blood in my cervical mucus. next day felt what i thought was a slight throbbing of my cervix for 10 seconds. 10 days later i am still spotting and have been doing so a little every day or every other day.

i had a cervical cap fitting 2 days after sex. the nurse said my cervix looked fine, uterus felt fine & i tested negative for climydia and gonorrhea. maybe they tested for other infections too but i don't know. i haven't had sex or used the cap since the bleeding started.

i have a long cycle and have been taking my fertility signs as well as using ovulation predictor kits and don't believe i have even ovulated yet. (so i assume it's not ovulation spotting, not that i've ever had that anyway.) took a home pregnancy test about 7 days after sex, was negative. (i'm NOT trying to get pregnant.) had a normal pap a few months ago (before i started having sex with my bf).

my doctor says just wait it out till i get my period and see if it comes back. it's freaking me out, i have never had bleeding other than my period. if my cervix was hurt from sex why is it still bleeding 10 days later? is there anything else i am missing that i should be tested for? other infection? something i could have caught from my bf? or worse? is it ok to wait?

i am 31 years old, and have had sex before with other boyfriends but never any bleeding (even though i've felt pain before from having my cervix hit). i have no other symptoms and feel perfectly healthy & normal otherwise. help, what could this be???

thank you for your help. sorry this is so long.
