Discomfort in vaginal areaFrom: Anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 16 Sep 2000 17:36:50 -0500 (CDT)
I am in my early 30's and and I am not sexually active. I have never had any problems in my vaginal area until about 6 months ago. Since then, I have experienced burning, irritation, and rawness in my vaginal area off and on. I switched to mild soaps and detergents (with no success). My doctor tried every type of cream and treated me for a yeast infection just to try everything. I finally used hydrocortisone 1% 3-4 times a day for 2 weeks and that got rid of about 80% of my symptoms and I am feeling a lot better. The problem is that I still feel the symptoms in the area under/between the labia minora. I am especially uncomfortable when I wear jeans, when I am sitting for a long time, or when I am sitting and I lean forward and put pressure in that area. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with me? Is it safe to continue using the hydrocortisones when my symptoms are bad? My GYN seems perplexed about how to heal my condition. Thank you for your help.
