Daniel Braun, MD: "Re: Abdominal Swelling Post Op" Hello, I am turning 45 next week and I will be having a laproscopic assisted hysterectomy (LAV) in mid October removing my uterus and cervix only not ovaries (provided there are no other problems)due to fibroids. My stomach is distended now since my uterus size is equal to 8 to 10 weeks. I an terrified after surgery of the abdominal swelling! I just want my stomach flat again. I exercise & lift weights regularly (4-5 times a week) which I will have to give up for a while (this too is something I have a hard time excepting). Any comments or suggestions about the swelling will be greatly appreciated. Anyone know if tight stomach muscles from exercising helps the healing process?
