Ovarian PolypsFrom: Andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 13 Sep 2000 08:36:55 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Doctors, September 13, 2000 I am an American woman living in Japan, and am having difficulty in finding information in English about my particular problem. I had an irregular menstrual period in July 2000 (late, dark color, longer duration than usual), and no menstrual period in August 2000. I visited an OB/GYN, and he informed me that I have one ovarian polyp (still under 2 mm) on my left ovary and 4 or 5 smaller ones on my right ovary. He didn't prescribe any course of treatment, and advised me to return in another 3 weeks for another exam. He said I should wait to see whether I have a period in September, but didn't suggest options for treatment if I didn't have a period. In the meantime, I am experiencing slight nauseau, dizziness, abdominal and back pain, find it difficult to concentrate on work / tasks, and because my abdomen is so bloated, none of my skirts and slacks fit anymore. I have been trying to get pregnant, but now I'm worried as to whether this would be safe or not (I guess it depends on the treatment?). Can you advise me on: 1) What treatment options are available if my period doesn't come? 2) Is it safe for me to become pregnant? Thank you for taking the time to help me!
