When should I take my birth control pill? Reply: William F. von Almen, II, MD, FACOG: "Re: When should I take my birth control pill?" I am just about to start my first pack of ortho-cyclen birth control pills. I started my period on Saturday and since I'm a Sunday start will take my first pill today. I am concerned about the upset stomach side affect and was wondering if it's o.k. to not take my first pill to before I go to bed tonight? Will it cause problems since it wouldn't be active in my body on the first day till a couple hours till it's over? I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Any help would be appreciated.
