Ovulation predictor tests....do they work?

Hello, sorry so long!

My husband and I have decided to try and have a baby (YEAH!). Here is my question: Do the ovulation predictor tests always work when used correctly?

Here is why I ask. Today is the 13th day of my cycle. For the past 2 days I have had awesome CM (clear, elastic, and in abundance). unfortunately, the awesome CM has started to disappear today. I have been using the tests for the last 3 days everyday around 5:00 pm. I follow the directions and they are always negative. I have had lower back pain for 2 days, and today I feel yucky like my "aunt" is coming. I do not have lower abdominal pain on either side.

Does the awesome CM mean anything for ovulation? I know the CM is needed to carry sperm I'm just hoping it means that ovulation is coming, or has come, or anything positive.

I have pretty normal cycles give or take a few days and have never had any problems. I just WANT A BABY :)

Thanks in advance for answering the question(s).
