I posted last week regarding u/s that showed fibroid, cyst (small) on right ovary & not seeing left ovary during ultrasound. I called Dr office today to see if u/s had been sent to my Dr's office. Receptionist said no, but while on hold she checked w/hospital & they faxed report. 20 minutes later, receptionist called me back to say the Dr said to call whenever I wanted to start hormones. I asked if my blood work had come back w/abnormal levels she said, i don't think so & the Dr said you had a normal u/s. I asked why the hormones & she said didn't you tell Dr you were having some hot flashes & night sweats, I said yes, but if my hormone levels are ok, then why the hormones? She said I don't know. So then I asked about the fibroid & cysts, the receptionist said yes, you do have both, but the Dr. considered it a normal u/s. I was in shock, so I just hung up the phone. My Dr will not discuss anything w/me over the phone, so I didn't ask for her to call me. I feel like this is not a reasonable answer to all my questions. Can anyone, Dr or otherwise, give me some suggestions on how to handle this? I understand a fibroid is not life threatening, & that a small cyst is not a big deal either, although I've been having severe pain on the left side (the cyst is on rt. ovary), and other symptoms (very irregular periods, heavy bleeding, & others). I also understand hormones may shrink fibroids. However, if that is the reason for Dr to mention hormones, shouldn't she explain this to me or at least tell me what kind & the size of the fibroid. Also, aren't even small cysts rechecked? I'm thankful nothing is seriously wrong, but I just have several questions to ask, because I've had other female problems in the past several years. Thanks for any suggestions.
