Re: 2 BCP questionsFrom: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 28 Aug 2000 04:46:37 -0700 (PDT)
Hi there!! I'm not a dr but I skip the placebo pills and start a new pack of pills each time. I have been doing it for 3 years straight to treat a medical condition called endometriosis. I saw one of the articles about skipping the placebos as well as the segment that they did about a month ago on this on tv. The reviews are mixed, but some ladies are having good results. And yes some drs (I asked my dr about the safety of doing this for a long period of time) actually say that it's ok to go without your period for as long as you want. The dr that was interviewed for that television segment was one of the ones that is strongly advocating this form of birth control. If you check the archives of this forum you will also find some additional information on this subject. As for the ways to eliminate the nausea that you are having even with taking it at bed time, you might want to try taking it earlier in the evening such as after dinner. The assistant at my dr's office told me to take my birth control pill 15 to 30 minutes after I would eat. Since I take my pill so early in the a.m. it does not work for me to eat so early and if I do eat really early in the a.m. I can get pretty sick to my stomach so that's why I ended up asking my dr for anti-nausea medicine. Doing this has worked best for me. I hope that the information I gave about eating 15 to 30 minutes before you take your pill is of some help to you. Of course if you still find that you are having problems with the nausea you may want to change bcps to get an amount of estrogen that is tolerated better by your body. Take care, and have a great Mon. Kristy :)
