July 99, dx w/severe cervical dysplasia. Went to Dr. b/c of having my period every 2 weeks & no pap in about 7 yrs. Dr. performed LEEP (after biopsy of course),& supposedly a D&C to help w/cycle. She never billed by insurance for D&C, but I didn't question this. All paps normal since then, however, still having irregular cycles, feel absolutely terrible (was anemic-taking folic acid w/iron). Called Dr several times, made several appts, had several exams - my complaints were extremely long periods (1 lasted 18 days), constant pelvic pain, achy legs, back ache, severe mentrual cramps. Dr. said uterus wasn't enlarged, said for pain to put my feet up & take extra-strength Tylenol. So I've suffered all this time, thinking it's in my head. Two months ago starting having extreme (doubling over)pains on left side. My ovaries have always hurt during ovulation, but nothing like this. Went to Dr. last Thurs for re-check pap, told her of pain, etc. & she said my uterus still felt okay, talked w/her about hot flashes, not being able to sleep & anxious all the time. She said I'm too young for menepause (34), but I asked her to check hormone levels. She also scheduled me for pelvic u/s. Went Monday, the radiologist couldn't find my left ovary, asked if I had one (I do), did transvaginal, found what she thought is a fibroid in uterus & cyst on right ovary, could not see left ovary. I'm waiting to here from Dr. My questions are: would a fibroid have been seen during LEEP or removed during D&C; can one fibroid cause all of the pelvic swelling(I'm thin, but my stomach is huge, getting larger all the time), backaches, leg aches, and totally no energy at all? Also could a fibroid grow so quickly in a year as to cause so many problems? Thank you.
