Mastitis caused by TBFrom: Aldy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 23 Aug 2000 22:18:20 -0500 (CDT)
My wife had her ligation last June 1999 and our youngest will be turning three this coming November...and she has mastitis for almost three months now. I made a research about mastitis and I found out that it is common to nursing mothers and obviously my wife is not one of them. Our first doctor (an ob-gyne) diagnosed that thing on my wife's breast as mastitis probably caused by trauma, though he didn't rule out other possibilities such as TB. We sought for a second opinion and this time, our second doctor (who is a surgeon) confirmed it was mastitis but not the usual one. According to him, it was caused by TB thus she required my wife to take medications for at least two months. She's taking Econokit - drugs for TB patients. Is there really a mastitis caused by TB? How can it be cured and how long?
