jhc, It may be that the pain is secondary to ovulation, but that this particular ovulation was "traumatic". Ovulation is the rupture of an ovarian cyst. Occasionally, this cyst rupture can be traumatic or associated with bleeding. Blood is very irritating to the abdominal cavity and causes pain and can cause discomfort in the perineal area because of the fact that inside this is the lowest and dependent portion of the abdominal cavity. I would keep an eye on the pain for awhile. If it does not clear by the end of your next period, then get it checked... Lynn
