Elavil effectsFrom: Emme (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 22 Aug 2000 11:00:58 -0500 (CDT)
I apologize if this is redundant. I didn't see my previous posts come up. My dr. prescribed 10mg of Elavil at bedtime to deal with possible depression and the pain from UTI-like symtoms. Is Elavil supposed to help nerve problems (ie. in the bladder)? At this dosage would it be prescribed more for its pain-killing than its anti-depressive effects? Also, I am not a big fan of using medicine/ABS that inhibit the body's or the brain's natural function. What kind of effect does Elavil have on the body? Because it is a tricyclic antidepressant will my body become addicted to it? I think my depression and bladder problems are attributable to the pill, and that once I go off of it they may go away. Also, I am going away, and am afraid that taking medicine at a different time (due to the time change) could affect the way I feel. Do you have any advice about low-doses of Elavil? I am very wary of prescription antibiotics at the moment and most likely just need some reassurance. Thanks!
