Thanks to Dr M for drawing my attention to this follow up -- book writing and toddler rearing have keep me too busy to check the forum other than my Fridays!

Ok -- sources: William's Obstetrics, the classic textbook. Also a recent article (2/2000) in OBGYN Management aobut recurrance rates -- I just tore out the chart on recurrance risks and didn't keep the whole article, so I don't know who the author was.

To convert to percentages -- this is for placenta previa, remember, and I'm just infering the risk of recurrance for percreta is at least that much, given the scarred area of the uterus and the propensity for abnormal adherence if hte placenta implants in this area again -- the overall risk of placenta previa is 0.3 - 0.5%. A sixfold increase would bring the risk to 1.8 - 3%. An eightfold increase would be 2.4 - 4%. Again, I couldn't find onay numbers specifically relating to recurrance of percreta, which is not suprising since many women with a percreta end up with a hysterectomy, and some even die from uncontrollable hemorrhage.
