Hi there,

He could be testing for a bladder infection, proteinuria, etc..If the person is a new patient, the urologist will most likely have one done to keep the results on file to see the patient's normal levels, etc.. They're often done as part of a routine annual physical or gynecological exam, so if one sees a urologist regularly, he/she may do this as a routine test as well.
