Nichole, Usually, when the physician does the pap, if there is too much blood he/she won't do the smear. If in his/her judgement there isn't too much, they will do the pap and it won't effect the reading. Further, if the pathologist or cytotech reading the pap finds that the cervical cells are obscured by blood, they will issue a report as such that suggests a repeat because of a sub-optimal smear...
