Born without a UterusFrom: Carrie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 4 Aug 2000 00:47:47 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, My name is Carrie and was diagnosed with Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser Syndrome when I was 18. I am now 28 and married. I have spent the past 10 years denying the fact that I can't have children. I have had Kidney tests and have no abnormalities. However, the doctors I have been to (I thought) had covered all bases and after finding the Women's Health Forum, you mentioned testes being present in the abdominal cavity. I haven't heard of the that before. I had an MRI before I was diagnosed. My question is, are testes always present in women diagnosed with this? Did they miss something? My doctor at the time (and he was a specialist at a clinic in Minneapolis) didn't seem to know much about the syndrome. ( It took 2 years to diagnose) e.g. He kept asking me how often I shaved????? And was surprised I had such well developed breasts...I thought they had all the answers. What an impressionable age. My regular practitioners didn't seem to know much. I feel now like I don't really know what is going on with my reproductive organs. And I feel lost. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and would like to find someone to help me. ( I just moved here with my husband 1 month ago) We are planning on adopting, however I would love to know what kind of chance we have at other resources. I was adopted myself and would love to have a biological child and won't rule it out until I know it's not possible. But most importantly, am I O.K.? or do I have health risks? Things I should be worried about? Thank you for your time,
-- Carrie Clark
