Deodorant Allergy?

When I was out of town a couple weeks ago, I used a different brand of deodorant than usual (but a brand that I've used before with no trouble). Within a day or so, I developed a rash under one arm. I assumed I was reacting to the new deodorant and I quit using the deodorant, but the rash has gotten worse over the past two weeks. And it ITCHES!!!! I've used no deodorant at all on that side since I got the rash, but it is not getting any better. And it's only on one side, even though I used the deodorant on both sides.

I'm not really sure how to treat this thing. I've tried powder to help keep it dry, but it's pretty hard to keep your underarm dry without anti-perspirant when it 110 degrees. My clothes don't rub the area. Any ideas? How long do I let it go before consulting a doctor? Any signs that I should watch for to be sure it's not getting dangerous?

Thanks, Andrea
