Irregular bleeding for 9 months

Hi, I have posted here before regarding irregular bleeding. I am 37 and have 3 children. Since a miscarriage and D & C 9 months ago, I have slight bleeding during the days after my period, and then slight spotting throughout the whole cycle every few days. I hardly get a few days without any spot. The doc thinks it is a hormonal problem and tried all kind of hormonal medication, which helped a little, and even one month was normal and spottless, and then on the same medicine the next month I had mid-cycle bleeding again. Last cycle was without medication, and every few days I had very minor blood strings, almost not to be noticed. All hormone levels were normal, all ultrasounds (regular, not saline) were normal. The whole story makes me very nervous, to say the least.

Well now the gyn has given up on hormonal medication, and wants to send me for a hysteroscopy. One of the docs on this forum suggested sonohysterogram and endometrial biopsy, and when I asked my gyn about it, he said the hysteroscopy is better and they will take a biopsy only if they see something suspicious. My question now is, does the hysteroscopy seem to be an appropriate choice at this point to find the root of my problem? Are there things that the hysteroscopy might miss, but could be detected with sono and biopsy?

Thank you for your help, this site is wonderful!
