Pregnancy after Abdominoplasty - Should you or shouldn't you?From: Vanessa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 30 Jul 2000 20:25:44 -0500 (CDT)
I've had 2 c-sections within the last 8 years and a year ago, had an abdominoplasty procedure done to reconstruct my weak abdominal muscles and rid excess loose skin/stretch marks. My husband and I are contemplating having another baby. Our main concern is whether I would be okay physically to carry the baby and if the baby would have sufficient space in the womb for development. I fear my vertical muscle lining will separate and cause a lot of problems for me and the baby. I've called my OB's office and spoke with the nurse who indicated that there should be no problem having a baby after this type of major surgery. Is it safe to have baby after this type of surgery? If so, what types of things should be monitored to make sure everything goes well as we "grow"? Still debating.
