6cm Ovarian Cyst LeakingFrom: Pam (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 30 Jul 2000 16:03:23 -0500 (CDT)
Yesterday i was taken to the ER after an episode of almost fainting followed by lots of tingling and numbness. Turns out that, despite drinking lots of water, I was dehydrated. After 2.5 liter of saline IV, the tingling minimized. I had also been having abdominal pain. Woke up about 4AM with sharp pain across my abdomin a couple of nights ago. In checking me out the ER doc found elvated WBC and lots of tenderness on left ovary. An ultasound showed a 6cm cyst. A dark spot on the opposite side of my ovary appeared to be fluid leaking from the cyst. I am 46 years old. Have had surgery twice for ovarian cysts in my 20s including an oopherecyomy and laparoscopy. Also had a cyst rupture in my 30s. In addition I have numerous autoimmune conditions including thyroiditis (thyroid just flipped from under to over active), Sjogren's Syndrome, Lichen sclerosis, and high titers for Epstein barre and Cytomegalovirus. Mostly I'm interested in the fluid leaking from the cyst. I haven't encountered this before. Can anyone offer insights? I'm scheduled to follow up in the next couple of days with a gyn. For now I'm just laying low and drinking lots of water. Thanks.
