Depo Provera and Endometriosis

Hi!

I have a feeling that this is something that is probably more up to me than to the Dr., at least the part about the Depo Provera, but I wanted to run something by the Docs here.....

I have been on Depo Provera for Endometriosis and suspected Adeno since November. They wanted to be a bit more agressive with me, and had me get the Depo Provera in November, December, and January, and then we went to every three months (which didn't last long). I was due for the injection in April, but missed it because of being hospitalized for the Pancreatitis. So, I had the injection in May, but between my regular OBGYN and my Endo Specialist, and me of course, we decided to go back to every month (we were doing this to hopefully thin out the Endometrium enough so that my uterus might not contract as often (who knows where that came from, but it isn't working!). I had the injection as I said in May, June, and July. I am due for another one this week, but am giving serious consideration to stopping, as I don't see it helping (even with being on Demerol and Phenergan IV 100mg/25mg q three hours, I was still having a considerable amount of cramping...it would even wake me.....BTW, I was in the hospital getting this, not at home....). We've talked about going back in and looking around, and they even said, both the OBGYN and the Endo Specialist, that they feel certain that they will find something...the do suspect the many cysts found on my right ovary to be Endometrioma's, but even before they were found, they said they do suspect they would find something. I am considering this step, but with all I have been through (10 1/2 weeks in the hospital for the Pancreatitis since March of this year), I don't know if that is even the right step.

I guess what I am asking after being incredibly long winded is, would you suggest staying on the Depo Provera, in hopes that it will eventually kick in, or do you think that I have given it long enough? I do try everything I can before resorting to something such as surgery. I want to avoid it as best I can, especially now that I know my body is not really up for the stress of surgery, but at the same time, I don't want to keep doing something that isn't going to work, and maybe go forth with something that will. It has been two years since my last surgery for Endo, which is terrific, considering I only went four months between surgery #1 and surgery #2. I know there isn't a cure for Endo, but I want to put off surgery for as long as possible.

Any thoughts on this is so much appreciated!!!!!!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read all of this. My pain medication has a tendancy to make me like this ;o)....
