I don't know where you live, but most areas have rape crisis hotlines that are available 24 hours a day. I work as a hotline counselor for a rape crisis hotline in Colorado. You can go to http://www.rainn.com and click on Counseling Centers to find a rape crisis line near you. You can also call RAINN directly at 1-800-656-HOPE (this is the correct phone number). The 1-800-656-HOPE number will connect you with the closest rape crisis center. You can also look in your Yellow Pages under Crisis Centers to find a crisis line. When you call, you can remain completely anonymous. Your call cannot be traced. The counselor you talk to can help you work through all of this. I'm concerned that the staff in the Emergency Room told you that you are not pregnant. Doing a pregnancy test at this time will only show if you were pregnant prior to being raped. You should get emergency contraception (also known as the morning after pill) to prevent pregancy from the rape. Again, the counselor you talk to should be able to help you get all the medical care you need. There are many myths regarding rape. Many people do not understand that rape is a crime, just like any other crime. No one would blame someone who has been mugged and beaten, why should anyone blame you because you were raped? All the blame lies with the rapists. On my rape crisis hotline, we offer counseling to secondary victims, like your parents. That can really help them reach an understanding about all of this. It is highly likely that they planned to do this, studies show that most date rapists will use alcohol to get the victim in a vunerable state. THIS IS NOT YOUR FAULT. If you would like to contact me in email, my address is kai@killerbytes.com. I think you would be best helped by talking to someone at your local rape crisis line. That person will know more about the laws and services provided in your area. It's also someone that you can talk to when you need to. I wish you all the best,
-- Ann
