Find a surgeon who is comfortable with the laparoscope, and have it done that way. You can always convert a laparoscopy into an open case in the unlikely event that you have to, but you can't go the other way, and an open case is a lot more difficult to recover from. As for urgency, assuming that this mass has been stable for a month or so, and your symptoms are not urgent, it can safely be performed any time in the next month or so.
