Usually the indication for removal of a uterine septum is REPEATED miscarriages or preterm labors. Many patients with a septum will lose 1 or 2 pregnancies and then have several normal pregnancies. Septum removal is not necessarily a benign procedure. It can lead to intrauterine adhesions and infertility, uterine rupture in a future pregnancy, and even possibly lead to a hysterectomy for complications.

If you are a nurse, go to the medical library and start reading about uterine septa. The Air Force has a number of RE's on active duty. They may need to refer you to "The Big Willy" or to Travis for the visit, but it can be done if the local doc thinks it requires surgery.
