Elevated Prolactin Levels

Hello. I am 26 years old. Last year It was discovered that I had a Prolactin level of 70. This was only after I finally went to a OBGYN after not going since the age of 19. At 19, I went because I could squeeze milk from my nipples and had severe pains midway of my cycle in my left ovary that would switch to my right monthly this had been going on since age 14/15.

To my surprise and dismay, the doctor (only) felt my abdomen and said I had a polycystic ovary, it needed to be removed and called all the other doctors and nurses in as milk was squeezed from breast. As they all looked with amazement he finally said to me at 19, that I would never have children. Unfortunately this left me confused, hurt and embarrassed.

In March of 98, my cycle became irregular varying from 40-50 and even 70 days. I would have terrible headaches, that I thought were from eating too much salt.

Finally in July 99 after not becoming pregnant after getting married in Sep 98 (I do not use birth control pills) and being sick from headaches, fluctuating cycles, severe cramping that last 3 weeks, what I felt were HOT flashes, mood swings, the inability to lose weight and chronic fatigue, I went to a new doctor, who said that (after a blood test) my prolactin level was 70. I had the CTSCAN and the brain MRI, thank goodness nothing abnormal was found. I saw an endocrinologist and I took Dostinex along with Zomig for the migraines I was having, and after 2 months the prolactin went down to 35. I stopped taking the medications.

Still not pregnant, still having an irregular cycle, and headaches that were starting again, I had my annual 2 days ago. My concern was the severe cramping that last 3 weeks and the concern of endomitriosis. But now my Prolactin level is 108. I have to go back to an endocrinologist to start the MRI and medication schedule again.

What causes prolactin levels to go up. Does weight have anything to do with this. I have always been overweight (really overweight) my current weight is 301 at 5f 8in. What are the dangers of having a prolactin level this high? Is there the possibility of children in my future? Can my cycle cause me to end up getting cervical cancer, have toxic shock syndrome?
