But how much time? Betty It does not sound to me like you can avoid this surgery. That is some pretty heavy duty bleeding you are doing. I am afraid only a hysterectomy will help. The abdominal swelling you are having due to the fibroids will cease immediately, but you will still have the post-op swelling to contend with (lasts 3-4 weeks). Good Luck
