allergy to medications for yeast and bacteria infectionsFrom: Ruby (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 2 Jul 2000 14:49:59 -0500 (CDT)
I'm severely allergic to sulfa medications, flagyl and augmentin. I get yeast and bacterial and colon infections quite often because I have Sjogren's syndrome and my immune system is overactive and out of wack. I've used levaquin with much sucess but now my doc says I'll need to see an infectious disease specialist and is reluctant to give it to me.....meanwhile I suffer from this infection which is moving throughout my entire body over this long holiday weekend. I'll see my gynecologist on Wednesday and I know she'll give me levaquin..... Is there any other drug out there other than Levaquin which will work for me? And why are doctors so reluctant on giving a medication which doesn't cause any side effects (for me). Thank you.
