They opened me up (called a laparotomy) to see it and remove it. My doctor explained to me that prior to closing me up, he put saline in there so as to prevent adhesions, and my organs could "float" while they heal. Now, my surgery was a little different that yours, but your doctor may have filled your tummy with this saline too. My stomach was bloated out a lot, until my body slowly absorbed the saline and it took about 10 days before it looked normal again. Good luck!
