8 weeks and concerned with possible miscarriageFrom: Patricia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 28 Jun 2000 12:20:55 -0500 (CDT)
Hi. I have just come back from the hospital from an emergency ultrasound. My OB did a pelvic on Monday (6/26) and found that the uterus was a little small. An hCG test gave 20,400 that same day (previous numbers were 9,400 on 06/7 and 169 on 05/22) and he thought since it was not doubling and I had VERY minor spotting (pinkish discharge for a few days and then again a few days later...no cramps) it could be an ectopic. The ultrasound came back with the following results: Intrauterine gestation. CRL aprox. 8 weeks 4 days (LMP was April 24). No FHR was found. Although this was not of much concern for the ER doctor, when he saw that my hCG was at 17,980 today (6/28) he suggested I wait a week and have another ultrasound. He said that I could be miscarrying. But he also said that the results could have varied because the labs were different. I am very angry and frightened. This is my first pregnancy and I have never had any problems. Is there still hope that the baby is OK? Even with the dropping hCG and no Fetal Heart Rate? Please respond as soon as you can. Thank you.
