Kas,

This is the only thing I can answer as I have been through this....there is a medication called Actigall that can dissolve certain types of stones (I think those composed of calcium only), but this process takes up to two years. If there are stones in your bile ducts, they can go in with a test called an ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) and get them out. This test is a bit invasive and has complications, one of which is Pancreatitis, which is how I got mine (Mine was to find out why my Liver Function was so high, and steadily climbing).

I have had my GB removed due to stones, and while it wasn't a walk in the park, I would have taken that any day over an ERCP. Besides, if you don't have stones in the bile ducts (you would probably have elevations in your LFT's if that were the case, and they would probably be quite high), an ERCP won't take care of the stones in your GB.

I do hope this helps some. Email me if I can do anything else for you.
