The pain has gotten much worse since a surgery in September 1999, when I had a myomectomy (bikini incision) to remove an 8cm and a also a 2 cm fibroid. To remove the 2cm fibroid (that one was a subserous fibroid in the cavity of the uterus), the surgeon made a large cut in my uterus on the right side. I woke up in recovery with excrutiating, stabbing pain on my right side. The pain has persisted to this day. I did have pain on the right side before this surgery, but nothing like this. The surgeon also found some adhesions on my right ovary. This right ovary was operated on previously over ten years ago by another surgeon, to remove a cyst. The ovary was partially removed at that time to take out the cyst, and I am told now that only 1/2 of it is left.

I believe there are some adhesions still there. My question is this. Is there any way to tell if this excrutiating, stabbing pain on the right side is coming from the uterus, where he made a deep cut to get to the subserous fibroid, or coming from the right ovary? Can one tell by my symptoms if the pain is coming from the uterus or coming from the partial right ovary?

I am certainly not a medical expert, but to my knowledge, one would have to to a diagnostic laparoscopy to see where they believe the pain could be coming from. You may have new adhesions pulling on the right side causing this pain or something else. I would certainly see another GYN experienced in laparoscopic surgery and go from there.

Good luck. I will be praying for you that God will help you resolve the problems.

God bless, Amy
