Pregnancy and stiff feet

Being pregnant seems to have had some permanent effect on my feet -- stiffness. This problem first started during my first pregnancy in 1994, eased between pregnancies, got worse during my pregnancy last year, but has not eased up since then.

Whenever I sit for more than a few minutes, when I get up, my feet and ankles are incredibly stiff -- to the extent that I have difficulty walking for a minute or two when I first stand up. It seems to be particularly worse if I've been sitting with my feet elevated.

Is this just a consequence of being considerably overweight (70 lbs) and inactive? Or is this a sign of some sort of problem that I should see my doctor for? Or just mention it at my next checkup? I'm only 29, so I would think I am too young for arthritis?????

Thanks, Andrea
