We don't like to give antimetabolites to pregnant women just because the class of drugs as a whole seems to do some bad things. IOW, there is no evidence that it does harm, but we still worry a little on theoretical grounds. I am unfamiliar with an E. coli infection of the vagina in postmenarchal, premenopausal women. I also don't think that bactrim would have high enough levels in the vagina to do anything. It has high levels in the urine, but not the vagina. RDB
