Re: (MCS) Multiple Chemical SensitivitiesFrom: Robin (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 1 Jun 2000 20:32:16 -0500 (CDT)
Hello Kelley, I am sorry for what you are dealing with. My Mother has a horrible time with perfumes. She is out of work currently because the people at work would wear so much perfume, she was sick all of the time. Unfortunately, her office wouldn't tell these people not to wear it, as they felt they couldn't (not true). She is currently on medications to help with depression and anxiety (heck, who wouldn't be depressed and anxious with all that to deal with!!!). She does go for counseling, which helps her deal with the people around that aren't so kind about not wearing the perfumes, but unfortunately, you can't change the world, as you well know, I'm sure. Have you considered maybe going to an allergist? I don't know if they can do anything, but it might be worth looking into. I know the masks aren't very attractive, but the surgical type masks that you can buy in the drugstore might help when you want to go outside. I have to use those sometimes because of the pollen and other allergens out there (I have asthma, and one whiff of something can set me off big time!). I don't know if any of this has helped, but I did try ;o)....I hope you find some relief and can find a way to lead a more "normal" life...whatever normal is ;o).... Feel better!
-- Robin
