Congratulations, both on the marriage and on waiting. There are ways to dilate the vagina other than intercourse. There are a variety of "tools" available for serially dilating the vagina, however, remember, the vagina is a potential space and very flexible and accommodating. The fact that you have been able to wait on intercourse till marriage tells me that you have an understanding guy. Therefore, things will likely be fine if you impart to him that both of you need to take it very slow and easy at first. This will probably be all you need. The vagina will be just fine. Most women will find that there is some discomfort at first, which resolves quickly-most of this discomfort has to do with a little too vigorous, clumsy attempt on the part of the man. If you feel that you must attempt dilation prior to attempting the act itself, the most economical means is to simply obtain a "dildo" or even a series of them, varying in size. They can be obtained discreetly via the web (Good Vibrations or Adam & Eve websites). You can them use them, with some lubricating gel, in private, at your own pace. Again, I think you will be just fine without the dilation. You just need to communicate with your husband. Regarding the question about your anatomy, it is hard to guage by description, but it is likely fine. If there is real concern down the road, have it assessed by your gynecologist... Lynn
