Jay, First, nobody can diagnose endometriosis or a "chocolate cyst" (endometrioma) via external exam, ultrasound or symptoms. The only way to diagnose endo is via scope. The timing of diagnosis via laparoscopy has to depend on the severity of symptoms, your desire for fertility as well as the timing. Endo can certainly give one the perception of abdominal swelling or bloating. It will not cause weight gain... Lynn
