Carolyn, The so called "buffalo hump" is related to hormones but not usually those contained in birth control pills. It is classically associated with steroid use, such as prednisone, dexamethasone or IV hydrocortisone. If your daughter is not or hasn't taken any of these medications, it is very important for her to see an endocrinologist. The steroids mentioned above are also produced by the body and if produced in excess, can cause things like a "buffalo hump". They can also cause many other potential problems. I would suggest medical attention ASAP... Lynn
