1st time visit for HRTFrom: Suzanne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 May 2000 02:41:44 -0500 (CDT)
I am a 53 y/o female who will be going to an OBGYN tomorrow for HRT. I have been using Black Cohosh/Licorice Root supplements for over 10 years and realize it is not enough replacement due to the onslaught of 'flashes' I now experience. My questions are: can I begin HRT with the mildest product/dose, say Ogen (referred to me) and increase as I find necessary or must I be an 'experiment', take what they give me (the thought of Premarin abhors me)and deal with the side effects? I sense I will be a sensitive canidate. It is possible to use the natural HRT along with synthetic as a support system or will the natural estrogen be 'canceled out' by the other? I am told another application is the "Estring" for direct support to loss of libido and lurication. What are the side effects, if any with this product? Thank you all in advance for help on these topics.
