Hi Mary
Not that this is going to help make your decsion any easier because it
is a tough one to evaluate. I have had 5 cerclages myself and I had one
of the cerclages placed after a tear was found. That cerclage did fail
me, but then we placed another cerclage after the failure and it held
okay. I guess it's possible that you can have a tear and go on to have
a successful cerclage experience and I think it all depends on how bad
the tear is. My Dr told me mine was very tiny and should not be much of
a concern and then had the failure. I also think you can speak with
your Dr and evaluate the type of cerclage that can be used and whether
one type or the other would be better in your situation. My Dr has a
personal preference on what type he uses, your Dr may too.
Take care
Jas
