Provera can be used to control excessive uterine bleeding or induce a period, the reason it induces period is the withdrawl from the provera (take it 5-10 days and stop, period should come on in a few days) literature states provera not safe during pregnancy. However, During fertility workup before Miss Priss #1 was not having reg periods, and OB wanted me to do one last trial of Clomid. Had not had period in a few weeks, so we did 10 day course of provera, 2 weeks later still no period, so I did Preg test and was pregnant! No adverse effects on pregnacy and baby was healthy
