Incidence of Major Complications Following Hysterectomy

:::waving hello to everyone 8 months out from my TAH::: Yep...it's been 8 months now and the farther out I get, the better I feel. <whew!> I was waiting for the day I could say that!

Anyway, in the assisting with http://www.hystersisters.com, we've run into a question time and time again about what exactly are the risks of Hysterectomy. Can one of the good Dr.'s here point me in the direction of any form of study on the web that tells me what the incidence of major complication? We have a few ladies (God Bless their hearts) who've had some major and quite a few minor complications from the surgery. The crux of the problem is that those of us who've been haunting the site and helping out have seen that these complications are very rare, but those who are having them tend to talk like there's a good chance that they'll happen to anyone. This is SCARY to the girls who are waiting for the surgery.

I'd love to have a magic crystal ball to be able to tell these gals that they won't have those complications, but obviously I don't. So, the next best thing would be solid numbers telling them their chances of having these complications. I've searched the archives here and haven't found what I'm looking for, but I'm continuing my search on the web for some difinitive answers. Can any of you give me a shove in the right direction?
