Re: Please help me! Pain control with endometriosis - re infoFrom: Anna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 21 May 2000 22:36:31 -0500 (CDT)
Thank you to all that replied. I have read a lot about Lupron and I don't want to risk having those side effects. My doctor is okay with that. I'm just the person that always gets side effects with meds, and I don't like the list of possible side effects with Lupron. Endo is bad enough! I have an incredible doctor, who I wouldn't switch for the world. She's very knowledgeable about endo, and I trust her. I live in the Boulder, Colorado area so I have access to Denver docs and she came highly recommended. I've tried other non-narcotic forms of pain meds. Generally they don't touch the endo pain. I have read that you can combine anti-imflammatories with narcotics to get more effective pain relief. Anyone know anything about that? My main question is that if 12 hour Vicodin doesn't work for 12 hours, should I take more of it, or will take cause dependance/addiction? Should I be asking my doctor for more powerful pain pills? I don't know if there are more powerful pain medications than Vicodin. Sometimes the pain will go away with the Vicodin, then the nausea is unbearable. So I take a Phengran. I just hate taking all these pills, but I can't live in this much pain. I've been changing my diet, cutting out salt, sugar, fatty dairy and trying to eat lots of protein. I'm eating soy products and veggy products in order to stay healthy. I take vitamins, and Omega 3, 6, and 9 which I have read can help. Again, thank you to all who replied. Knowing that you are all responding out of concern and kindness is such a blessing.
