Please help me! Pain control with endometriosis

I was diagnosed with endo in Jan 2000 after a lap. The pain returned soon after and I went on Danazol. Due to side effects, my doctor took me off Danazol 2 months ago. The pain has come back in the past week, and it's quickly becoming severe.

When I started this, I was prescribed Darvaset. It became ineffective, and my doctor moved me up to Vicodin ES. I'm scared to take the Vicodin, as the pain comes back in 4-5 hours, not the 10 hours like the prescription says. I feel like I need it for pain relief more than the prescription says I should.

I'm very scared to take this pain medication, as I'm terrified I'll become addicted. But the pain is excrutating. I can't do anything, work, have sex, exercise, basically can't even go up and down stairs. I now only take the Vicodin when I cannot stand it anymore and am in tears. I'm only taking the medication for pain, I actually hate the "out of it" feelings that it gives me. I don't drink, smoke or do anything else that would put me in an altered state. I like being in control of myself.

My husband tells me to talk to my doctor about this (I have an appt on Monday - going to have surgery again). I'm afraid she'll think I'm some sort of narcotic addict or something. I'm also afraid there is nothing else that I can take for pain.

I feel like I'm losing my mind. The pain is making me so depressed because I feel there is no hope. My next surgery is going to remove my right ovary, since that's the only place endo was seen and where I have pain.

Doctors: what would you do if I was your patient? Are all doctors afraid that patients just want narcotics to get high? How do you effective manage pain in endometriosis patients?

Thank you for any replies. Just knowing that someone read this means so much to me right now.
