Re: Does one have to have pain to have adenomyosis? From: C Twisdale RN (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 20 May 2000 08:15:04 -0500 (CDT)
Not necessarily to have pain. I had bleeding for 8 weeks, had D&C, hysterscopy with polyp removal, did Provera and low dose OCP. Still bled after all this, as a busy mom and fulltime RN, bleeding this long was not on my agenda. Also had bladder problems. After battling with my insurance company had TAH,bladder and vaginal repairs in Nov 99 (I am 32) my doc, (sweet as he is) cam in to recovery room and said, well the uterus LOOKED perfectly normal. HA the nurse in me knew better. Pathology report came back as much adeno! My point here, is that adeno is difficult to diagnosis unless hyst is done and uterus can be thoroughly examined. Now mind you I am not saying you need a hysterectomy! My point is you may not be able to get an adeno diagnosis. Also ablation will not take care of problem fully, this will ablate lining, but adeno affects muscle layer of uterus
