Viable embryo or foetusFrom: Anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 19 May 2000 17:55:52 -0500 (CDT)
I have a very important question and any answer would be appreciated. My last menstrual period was on 3/29/00, I took Clomid from April 2nd to April 6th. An ovulation test came back positive on April 16. I had intercourse on that day and on the 17th. On 5/5/00, I did a pregnancy test which came back positive. I went to see my doctor on 5/15/00. She did a sonogram and said that she could not here any heartbeat and that there was a possibility that the pregnancy was not progressing. She sent me to a radiologist who did another sonogram on 5/18 and said that the foetus was 5 and 1/2 weeks. He said that it should be seven weeks old and that the possibility of the possibility of the foetus not being viable was there and that I had to wait and see if it is progressing. Is there any other possibily that would make the foetus only be 5 and 1/2 weeks instead of 7weeks. I am scared to hope that it is alive and I am loosing all my enthusiasm about the pregnancy. If it is not alive, when will I miscarry? Will it just happen randomly, like when I am sitting in the train or something? Is miscarriage painful? Please help with any answers you have. Thank you.
