acne, ortho tri-cyclen, weight gainFrom: Theresa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 18 May 2000 21:38:09 -0500 (CDT)
I have had acne since 3rd grade, am now in college, and very sick of it. I took accutane twice, and although severity has definitely decreased a lot, it still bothers me. My sister takes ortho tri-cyclen and it has cleared up her skin (she never had a problem like I did though). But it also made her gain weight in the butt area and her chest got bigger--so she says. I want clear skin, but if I will gain weight with the pill I don't want to take it. How do I know if I'll gain weight, and if I tried it out and gained 5 pounds and then stopped taking it, would I be able to get rid of my bigger butt? I guess I just need to know what the trade-offs are, and I am not sure it's possible since I've heard it varies with individuals. I'm a very self-conscious person and gaining weight would not help me overcome my insecurities, so weighing more than 110 is a big deal to me.
