After surgery questionsFrom: bm (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 18 May 2000 20:41:23 -0500 (CDT)
I wrote a while ago about my mom's vulvar cyst. Well today she had the surgery to excise it as well as a D&C to remove the cervical polyp. She had some dissolvable stiches put in. In total the surgery was about 15 minutes. The dr. told her to soak with epsom salts starting tomorrow to speed healing. He said the "cyst" he excised he thinks was a result of her episiotomy 24 years ago, but he's not sure and he "took some tissue to look at". My question is do you think this means he suspects cancer? The "cyst" was in the perineum between the vagina and the anus, and mom says she could feel a soft lump and then on one side it developed a head through which it was constantly draining. I've tried to find some info. on symptoms of vulvar cancer but haven't had much luck. How long does the pathology report normally take? She's seeing him again in 6 weeks, but if the report shows something like cancer they would contact her earlier no? Sorry to be going over the same territory again, but I can't help but worry.
