Daniel Braun, MD: "Re: hymen" Hi, I recently had my first gyn exam and was told that the speculum exam would not harm the hymen. I don't quite understand exactly where the hymen is located. I thought it was a membrane across the vagina but if so, how can a speculum avoid it? This isn't an incredibly important question but I'm very confused. Thanks!
